Fill in the Blank Friday

When I get a day to myself I like to...Read. ALL DAY.

High school was... fun and I enjoyed it...but I love my life more now. I feel sorry for those who look at high school as one of the best times in their lives....there is soooooooo much more out there!

A little dream I have is... to travel to Australia. I know to some this is a BIG dream, but for me it's a little dream as I love to travel and I know I will somehow manage to do this, even if it means no shopping for a year!

A big dream I have is... finding the right person to be married to forever. I say this is a big dream because with 65% of marriages ending in divorce, I would like to NOT be a statistic, thank you very much.

If I could drive any car my pick would be... the car I have right now. I love it.

A time I felt truly beautiful was... I don't know. I always feel a little pretty in someway. I guess the last time I felt overwhelmingly beautiful was a while ago...hmm...

Tomorrow I will... watch the Longhorns, sleep in, drink coffee and read. :)

40!

So I just saw my Follower count and I am astonished! I cannot believe I am at 40 followers! Just wanted to say hi to all of you "readers". I hope in some way this blog brings you joy, happiness and whatever else may be. I love having a "history" of my life and I love the blogging community :)

Hope y'all have an amazing day!

Memories and hopes

I for the first time in a long time have "writers/bloggers block"

I started this blog as a way for me to look back on my life and see how I have changed. I've always had a diary/journal and when I left for college I started a blog. This is probably my 5th blog and so far it has proven to be helpful to show me how much I have grown.

I love to look back on my life and "remember" and I love to look forward and "hope".

I remember the following:
  •  I felt when I started law school - I was excited and knew this was what I wanted to do with my life, I was in a new state and loving life.
  • The way I felt when I decided I no longer wanted to be an attorney - it took a lot of soul searching that summer and I realized that I was so incredibly unhappy- and yet I loved Chicago- all of it!
  • The way I felt when I was "alone" again (it was difficult and yet a blessing more of a blessing than I could ever have hoped for)
  •  Starting a business with my Dad and becoming closer to my family. I am so incredibly blessed to have the family I have - and sometimes when I meet people that aren't as fortunate to come from such a loving family I wonder "how do they do it?" because my family gives me strength when I don't have, love when I am not feeling it and happiness always.
All of those happened within 1.5 years.  It was a rough, tough 1.5 years. I would say the toughest in my entire life. I am glad it is behind me because I have such a bright amazing future. I love my life.

Truly one day I said to myself "I have one life so I might as well love it and be happy every single day - so I am."  It is amazing what that statement did to my life.

I am hopeful for the following:
  • To find another career path - while working with my father has been amazing and wonderful and everything that I could have ever wanted, it is time to move forward in my career.
  • To find an amazing apartment within the loop and near where I want to be - I have an area in the city that I have always wanted to live in, and now seems like the perfect time to be doing that
  • To stay happily in love with B - There aren't any problems or anything that is making me think this won't happen, I just want this to stay how it is. I have never had a relationship with zero "issues", nor a relationship without major drama/fighting. I truly have a sincere smile on my face and my heart when I think of us. I am truly grateful for this love.

Top Two Tuesday on a Monday

Top 2 things I want to accomplish this year:

1. A new job/career path: This is something I haven't talked about recently, but I will soon. I am very happy with my decisions and later on I will have an entire post dedicated to this.

2. Move to a new place in the city. The house I live in (that my parents own) is on the market. Once it is sold, I am moving into town and I cannot wait. I am ready for a new adventure- I just can't believe so much has changed in the past year and a half. I am ready to downsize- get rid of the things I don't just absolutely love. I am not really a "things oriented" kind of person so this is somewhat easy for me.

Big Bend

I've been MIA -

This past labor day weekend B and I were in Big Bend - it was an amazing wonderful trip. I loved it. Isn't it beautiful?

This past week I have been sick sick sick...

so I'm MIA until next week.

Top 2 Tuesday

It is already Tuesday!!

Top 2 Favorite USA Cities

I have traveled extensively in my short life and I will say that I love the USA and these are my 2 favorite cities!

1. Chicago - went to school here and lived here. I loved every second of it. I think EVERYONE should live here at some point. It truly is a magical city. From the Cubs, to Lincoln Park, to the Mag Mile and Gold Coast, to the South Side (ok parts of the South side)- I love it.

View from my apartment

The Bean

2. I would have to say one of my other favorite cities is Miami. I am half Cuban and nothing makes me happier than being in Miami with all of the other Cubans ;)

Fill in the Blank Friday

IT is Fill in the Blank Friday:

The most adventurous thing I have ever done is : backpacked through Europe by myself. It was wonderful.

If I were a pair of shoes I would be: A pair of red flats - comfortable, yet fun.

My preferred mode of digital communication is: Texting - it is easy to be able to communicate with everyone very quickly!

I feel happiest when: I am reading a book I love or surrounded with the ones I love.

A little dream for my life is: I don't dream small.

The one modern convenience I could NOT live without is:  I don't know. I think I could always make it - it would just be hard without the conveniences.

Movies, TV or books, if I could only choose one to enjoy I would pick :  Books. Hands down.

Friday Favorites

Sam Edelman Sandals. For the summer time I LIVE in these sandals.

I have them in 3 colors and add a color every summer - 3 summers now. Plus I also bought a pair in cork this year. They are comfortable and better than flip flops when you want to dress down. I love them. Plus in Texas I can pretty much wear them year-round.

Tuesday Top 2 (on a Monday!)

It is that time of the week again....Top Two Tuesday!

Top 2 Biggest Indulgences!

1. Good Wine
B and I love wine. We drink wine regularly and to be honest- we are wine snobs. We just are. We like wine with dinner and one of our favorite things to do is go to the Tasting Room, grab a bottle (yes I said bottle, not glass) and sit outside. LOVE!
2. Makeup
I love makeup. I love designer makeup. I cannot help it. I don't even wear it that often but something about the packages and the pretty colors just get me every single time!

Weekend Wrapup

Friday my friend V and I went to dinner at Ruggles. SO DELISH! Then we headed to our old hangout Volcano - both of us love the frozen screwdrivers...who doesn't love a frozen screwdriver. As always, V and I had a fabulous time and I always love hanging out together. She's proven to be such a wonderful friend the past year and a half. While I've known her longer, it's only the past 1.5 years that we have truly hung out and I am so incredibly blessed by her friendship.

B came home on Saturday morning and we headed for the Hill Country. All in all - it was fun. I love camping - and each time we go, I think I get better at it. I did trip and fall and banged up my knee and lost a toenail from a fall - not too much blood but OH MY GOODNESS the pain. Oh well - it will all heal in time.

We got home last night and watched My Boys. WHY HAVE I NEVER WATCHED THIS SHOW BEFORE? I love it. He has me hooked and now we are going through past seasons. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Top 2 Tuesday (monday)

Top 2 Characters I'd like to play

1. Bethenny - Of RHONY and Bethenney Getting Married!?!
I mean she has a great life (now). She seems happy and most of all - normal. Life wasn't handed to her on a silver platter - she worked for it!

2. I am going to have to agree with Tay- Rachel Zoe - impeccable style. Great life - and I mean have you seen the clothes she is arround?! LOVE!

All in all though -I love my life and wouldn't want to be anyone else but me.

weekend

For the weekend B and I headed to the beach on Saturday. It was wonderful. I love the beach. It is crazy how close I've lived and yet never went and this summer we have gone A LOT.

Sunday was a cleaning day - We organized and cleaned and cleaned - it needed it! Plus we got to check that off the list!

And for a treat we went to Sprinkles! And of course...Roxy got a doggie cupcake.

Friday Favorites

The Ocean. I love the Ocean - granted we live somewhat close to Galveston and I love it...it may not be the most glamourous beach, but it is close. I love the ocean. I love being in the water.

The best beach areas I have been to are:
South Beach in Miami, FL - fun, entertaining and pretty people everywhere ;)
Paros, Greece - I mean it is Greece afterall..
We island hopped in Hawaii when we went on a family vacation - super fun!
Ios, Greece - a party area...fun fun fun.
The US Virgin Islands - so pretty!
Ixtapa, Mexico - relaxing and overall a great family fun place
Nice, France (and Monaco) - great Yachts, and picturesque landscapes

But my favorite of all time so far is:
Santorini, Greece (pretty neat as they are red sand or black sand beaches!)
Greece has amazing beaches, relaxed people and overall I loved it - granted I wished I didn't experience it alone at the time - but now I still find myself amazed that I did it - all by myself!
The picture is a sunset I took in Santorini. Love.

Florida and a Baseball game

B and I headed to Florida last week to attend one of my best friend's weddings. I was a bridesmaid.
It was wonderful. The beach was perfect- and nothing beats drinking a margarita while sitting in crystal clear water. That is seaweed by my feet!

She got married on the beach - this was the set up.

I caught the bouquet- ok she totally threw it right at me - but it was a great time. I loved it.

When we got home a friend of B's had extra Astros tickets so we rounded up our vacay with a baseball game. The Astros beat the Braves. It was fantastic- and we were right behind home plate!

2 things checked off of our list already!

Fill in the Blank Friday

It is that time of the week again...FILL IN THE BLANK FRIDAY!!

1. Today for breakfast I ate nothing. I did have tea. Does that count?

2. My go to/never fail recipe: Baked Chicken. It is easy- take chicken breasts, smother in whatever spices you want and put lemon juice on top - bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees, turn the breasts over, bake 15 more minutes. And then you are done!

3. Something I eat that other people think is weird is green beans...all of the time. I love them.

4. My worst cooking disaster ever was the first time B and I cooked together. Everything tasted horrible. Luckily we have gotten MUCH better!

5. If I could only eat one flavor of ice cream the rest of my life it Blue Bell Homemade ice cream with chocolate sauce. MMMMMM.

6. One food I hate and avoid at all costs is tomatoes. Eewwwwww.

7. What is your favorite meal? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner? DInner. I love winding down with a glass of wine and wahtever fun things I came up with. Plus I love lighting candles, setting the table and enjoying a meal together at night.

Friday Favorites

Wine....

I am a Wine-o. I don't drink beer- but wine...oh heavens I could have a glass (or more) every single day. I love it. The way it tastes (most of them!) and smells (again most!) and how it can cool you off (whites) or warm you up (reds).

B and I drink a glass or more with dinner almost every night we cook together. I love that it has become part of the ritual - I am fixing dinner, he usually uncorks or untwists a bottle, we set the table light candles and sit and eat/drink while we catch up. It makes me happy. I enjoy it. And we always "cheers" each other. It is a wonderful way to wind down after a hectic day.

MIA

I wish I could say that I have been MIA because I have been doing wonderful things...but in fact I have just been busy...and soaking up as much B time as possible. The busy season is about to start for him and he will be out of town non-stop. So in the mean time I've been enjoying his company. I love his company.

10 years

I lost one of my best friends when I was in high school. I wrote about it here.

Saturday it will be exactly 10 years....

I was sending B an email today about it and decided to add the email in here.

I don't talk about her much and I don't talk about the accident or how it has affected me. I try to let the years go by and to live each day as happy as I can be. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I don't. I cannot believe it has almost been 10 years. It amazes me how much "life" I have lived that she did not have the chance to. So many great and not so great things have happened.

I wish you could have met her.
I realized as I was thinking about her and what Saturday is, that this is his first "anniversary of their death" that he is in the free world. I wonder how he will mourn the loss. I wonder if he will stop by and pay his respects. I know how awful he feels and sorry he is for what happened. I know for him it is a life sentence. For me it just stops me at times. Certain instances make me think "I wish Caroline were here." My life moved forward and while his did too, his still stops and he still has the lingering of knowing what happened and what he caused.
Strange how fast the 10 years went by.

I truly cannot believe it has been 10 years.

Date Night - Wine Bar #1!

B and I went on a date night yesterday. I had a bad day and it felt great to just get out and have fun. I love date night. We went to Cova- a wine bar and it was Steak night. Steak and shrimp and wine. Delish!

What I enjoyed most is our conversation - I love our conversations. Our conversations are what made us friends and truly every time we just sit and talk it makes me so happy.
They messed up our bill so we got a glass of wine each - on the house...it was a lovely extra treat!

Afterwards we were going to go get ice cream but the ice cream shop locked RIGHT when we pulled up- but he surprised me and we went to Amy's (I didn't know we had an Amy's!) and it was delicious.

All in all - a fabulous date night with the one I love.

Top 2 Tuesday

Top 2 Favorite perfumes/colognes/scents

2. Stella McCartney - Stella

I've worn this for years and just love it. People always compliment me when I wear it.

2. Fresh Laundry.
Seriously - I love clean fresh laundry. B says I use too much detergent. Perhaps but I love the smell.

The Weekend

Friday B and I had our usual date night. I love date night. I love that he likes us to have us time. It makes me happy. We went for Sushi- always my favorite! Afterwards we met up with friends for a free Grey Goose Promo...I'm all about free Vodka! :)  Of course then everyone else wanted to eat dinner so we had margaritas and split an appetizer. All in all - fabulous night.

Saturday B and I met my family at the beach. Loved it. I love the beach and seeing my family. Nothing makes my heart happier than seeing B and my brother get along and laugh together. My brother is so important to me, and with B being an only child - he is the only sibling between us- I love my brother and I love that my brother loves B for me. Saturday night we went with some friends to listen to a live blues band. They were really good and B and I got to dance - not that he loved that part- but blues for him, dancing for me...good balance!

Sunday was our lazy day - grocery shopping, going to discovery green to see and play with the sailboats and movie night.

Fabulous weekend.

Corpseflower

B and I went to the museum last night- at 2AM to see Lois the Corpseflower. She is stinky but it was neat to be in the museum at night! I love our life and i love that we do things like this! Plus it is one thing off of the list!

Friday Favorites

Whenever I am traveling to a new city as a tourist I always like to have a map and the Streetwise Maps are my favorites. They are laminated so rain and snow don't ruin them and they fold up easily.

They are fairly cheap $6 or so per city and you can buy them ahead of time off of Amazon.com

I just love them!

B and A's adventures

I have been doing the Day Zero project since August of 2008 and my own personal one doesn’t end until April 2011.

Since B and I got together we have done quite a few of my 101 things together...so we decided to make our own 101 list and let the adventure begin! We are still adding to the list but it has begun!

The start date is July 21, 2010 and has to be completed by April 18, 2013

You can go here to see the list...and of course I will be blogging about it!

Washington, DC

I was MIA for the past few days because I was in DC for 5 days visiting a great friend from college. S and I had a blast - visiting the sites, catching up and even going on a bike tour (which I recommend in every city that has them. They are fantastic, a great way to get some exercise and you can see the sites!)

Photos will be added at a later date.

Friday Favorites

FRIDAY FAVORITES:

I know makeup can be boring to some...but I LOVE it. I don't wear makeup often but poor B knows I own a boat load of it...in fact I still have yet to buy any new makeup in 2010 except for eyeliner and mascara...that's how much I have - I am trying to get through the entire year on only buying those 2 products so that I can "use" up the other stuff...

Onto the favorite:

I LOVE Clinique eyeliner- it is perfect! It stays "sharp" and has a smuding end - it is great for travel and it stays put. I own it in several colors and truly LOVE it...besides - when it is bonus time they usually have fantastic bonuses!

Weekend

So one of my longest ever friends had a baby this weekend. Baby D was born on Friday Evening - he is precious!

B and I headed to DFW area to visit his family this weekend. They are incredibly nice and I also got to meet his grandparents. It was a relaxing fun weekend - way too much food and lots of lounging - much needed! They also have two adorable dogs- Roxy's half brother and half sister. IT was fun seeing them play around and I really enjoy seeing his family.

We spent Sunday evening seeing Baby D and then going out to dinner with my parents and my grandfather. It was a very family friendly weekend. :)

50 Questions - #46-50

46. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? The thing is - I don't really care who judges me - I do what I do. I like what I do.

47. When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing? Whenever I am sick - I hate it!

48. What do you love? Have any of your recent actions openly expressed this love? I only express that I love things often - except for the relationship I am in...it is silly, but I can't help it. I want to say it but I guess in time it will come.

49. In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday? What about the day before that? Or the day before that? What i did yesterday- I will remember seeing baby D always for the first time. He is so sweet. Newborns are amazing. I will probably not remember the hand holds and the cuddles from B exactly- but I hope in 5 years I know how they still feel.

50. Decisions are being made right now. The question is: Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you? I am trying to be more independent and make them for myself.

50 questions - # 26-45

26. Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
This is incredibly difficult. I have lived such an amazing life. I have done, seen and explored more than most. I wouldn't ever want to lose the memories of my loved ones that have passed away but the idea of never making new ones saddens me. I believe in living in the present - and sometimes straying into the past- so I will have to say I would rather lose old memories so that I can live in the present. THIS was the most difficult question so far!

27. Is is possible to know the truth without challenging it first? Nope.

28. Has your greatest fear ever come true? It was my greatest fear- then it happened and now I have a different one.

29. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now? No I don't and no it doesn't.

30. What is your happiest childhood memory? What makes it so special? Happiest- jumping on the trampoline with the water hose with my brother. It was fun. We laughed like crazy. My parents watched us from the kitchen window. IT reminds me how my life has been. Fun times with my brother and I laughing and our parents so happy to see us so happy.

31. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive? Reconnecting with B. Hands down it has been the most amazing time. I don't want it to ever end. I laugh and smile every single day. I am so lucky to have him in my life.

32. If not now, then when? If not now, then never. That's what I think. ;) Patience is not a virtue of mine!

33. If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose? If I haven't acheieved it I am not done trying!

34. Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever? Yes. And it was the best conversation ever.

35. Why do religions that support love cause so many wars? If we only knew! You have too many people that have such strong convictions that they fight for those convictions and lose sight of what the convictions actually stood for - usually they stand for love and peace. It is sad really.

36. Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil? In everything- I don't think so. In some things I think it is possible to know.

37. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job? One million? No. $20 million. yes.

38. Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing? More work I enjoy. IF you enjoy it - it isn't work.

39. Do you feel like you’ve lived this day a hundred times before? This day? Nope. It is new. It is wonderful.

40. When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in? huh? No idea about this one.

41. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today? My family. The idea of not seeing my parents or my brother after tomorrow is unthinkable to me. They are my rock. I would love to see my godparents, friends etc - but quality time with my parents and my brother would be essential in my moving forward in my life.

42. Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous? No. I love my life. While I would love to be skinnier - I would rather be alive.

43. What is the difference between being alive and truly living? Alive is merely existing. Truly living is - laughing, playing, enjoying time with others, enjoying alone time, seeing sights and FEELING emotions. I would never want to just be alive.

44. When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right? Ha. If only I didn't calculate all of the time!!!

45. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? We would rather not make them - you can learn from OTHERS! ;)

50 questions - #16- 25

16. How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy? Everyone has different tastes in life. I would be boring if we all liked the same things!

17. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?
If I were to answer this a year ago - the answer would be fall in love - unconditional love. But I'm there. So now- I would love to one day get married. I believe in marriage and I believe in everlasting love - it will come - when it is supposed to come and I have no intention of hurrying it along - I am happy and very content in where I am. IF we are talking about something silly - I would say I really really want to go backpacking again for two weeks, somewhere.

18. Are you holding onto something you need to let go of? Ha ha. Yes. But I am in the process of letting go. It is an old friendship that brings a lot of pain into my life- I know it is time to say goodbye.

19. If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?
Italy- I love the country, the food (they are VERY gluten free friendly!), the people and overall I love it there. I can't wait to return one day!

20. Do you push the elevator button more than once? Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster? No and no.

21. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton? Worried genius. I value intelligence.

22. Why are you, you? I believe circumstance, nature and nurture makes everyone who they are. It isn't all genetics, but some it is and it isn't all just environment - I think when you go through something painful (or joyful) it changes you. Life is all about change.

23. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend? I think I am better with some than others. Everyone has let a friendship go now and then. Overall - I think I am a great friend. I do surround myself with amazing people and I do value their friendships.

24. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you? When they are right near you and you lose touch. It is sad, but sometimes best.

25. What are you most grateful for? My family. Family isn't just the people who are blood related - I call my friends my family as well. I have the best parents I could ever have asked for. I've always felt loved and cared for. My brother is one of my best friends and while we don't always get along my life is infinitely better because of him.

Friday Favorite

Today's Friday Favorite is...

Tinkyada Brown Rice Pasta!
Since I can't eat gluten - I love pasta- and this rice pasta is a favorite. Tinkyada makes the BEST BEST BEST rice pasta! It takes just like "regular" pasta- only difference is when you drain - you must rinse with cold water and then add sauce. So delish! :) Even B had some the other night!

3. The last (interesting) thing I received in the mail was: My magazines and earrings

4. The last movie I saw was: B and I had movie tickets from Groupon that were going to expire so we went to the Alamo Draft House and watch Knight and Day - predicitable.

6. As a teenager I was : I was pretty well behaved and made good grades- I didn't know how to truly rebel- my parents are thankful of that.

7. I wish I could trade lives for one day with: an actress- I think it would be fun to be on a movie set somewhere fun like Italy.

50 Questions - #15

What’s something you know you do differently than most people?

The way I express my feelings. Towards most people - I am happy go lucky all of the time. I smile all of the time. Towards my closest people in my life is when I allow myself to cry, be sad, etc. While I am not sad, upset etc for long - I just don't show that side - my "vulnerable" side to everyone, and I am ok with that.

50 Questions - #14

Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?

I see that in art all of the time. In life I think most things that I think are insane - are.

50 Questions - #13

Would you break the law to save a loved one?
Absolutely.

50 Questions - #12

If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?

Love. (life, animals, people, your surroundings, your job, your lover). Love your life and EVERYTHING you have been blessed with. Never lose sight of the little things.

50 questions - #11

You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?

Say something. IF it continues just state that I have to leave the conversation as I don't want to partake it in.

50 questions - #10

Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?

Doing the right thing. I am a very particular person but in the end, I always want to do what is the right thing.

50 questions - #9

To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?

I would say that I have worked hard for the things, experiences etc that I wanted. I don't believe I am "in control" of my life - but I am in control of my actions towards others and towards myself. I try to do the right thing and I think doing the right thing does help in life. I believe in do unto others as you would like done unto you. So that's how I live my life.

50 questions - #8

If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?
At this very moment? I wouldn't change anything. In the past I still wouldn't have changed anything. I absolutely love my life. I am doing more, loving more, and living more than I ever have.

50 questions - #7

Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?

I am trying to get to a place to do what I believe in. I think this is a work in progress- always.

50 Question - #6

If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?

Something that involves helping people. I loved working with MADD when I was younger (no I am not a mom, just a huge advocate for not drinking and driving) - one of my best friends was killed by a drunk driver. I would love to work for MADD again- but it is heartbreaking.

I wouldn't mind working at the zoo, an animal shelter etc - but all of those jobs require a little bit of heartbreak.

So maybe....a cook? I like cooking - I would love to REALLY learn how to cook - like take a real course on cooking.

50 questions - #5

What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?
Intolerance. Racism. I see it everywhere. It annoys me. Some people say "reverse" racism - which I think is RIDICULOUS...as racism is racism. You can't have REVERSE racism.

I guess I would also say violence. All kinds.

I cheated - that is 3.

50 questions - #4

When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?

I talk a lot. I like to do a lot of things. I am sure that it will be about 50/50.

50 Questions - #3

If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
I find myself wondering something similar all of the time. So I did something about it. Sure no one wants to do dishes, clean up clothes, do laundry etc - so I think you find balance. You do somethings that you should do and some things that you WANT to do. Life is all about the balance.

50 questions - #2

Which is worse, failing or never trying?

Never trying. Without a doubt never trying.

50 questions - #1

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

Somedays I feel so much older than I am right now. I am 27. That is not OLD nor is it YOUNG...I am almost 30, approximately 1/3 into my life. There are days when I think I am 18 again and days when I wonder HOW can I act so old! Overall though- I think I am like most single/unmarried 27 year olds. I think I (finally) act my age. If I would have answered this 5 years ago - I would say I acted 30. But now- I am slowly finding the balance being old and being young. I feel that I am at a great place in life.

50 questions that will free your mind?

Has anyone ever heard of this?
After reading the questions - I really want to do this...so forgive me if I am boring for a while, but I am going to answer them, slowly but I want to get through all of them.

FRIDAY FAVORITES....

Today's favorite is...

ANTHROPOLOGIE
I love this store! Granted I can truly only afford things that are ON SALE or cheaper than their $250 dresses but I can't help but smile when I go in there. The colors, cuts, everything makes me happy. I love the reto-ish feel of some of the clothes. MOST are modest and flirty.

family

I love my family. I love that I talk to my little brother almost every single day. I love that I see my dad every day and that he gets me and I love that, while she drives me crazy, my mom is my hero/champion and knows my heart more than anyone in the world.

I am a lucky and blessed gal.

B and I went out to Marble Falls this weekend. We met new people, camped and had a great time...I came back bruised and bug bitten but very happy! We stopped in Austin for Mexican Martini's and drove through campus. It's nice to remember college and to have him in those memories. College was such a wonderful time in my life - I feel lucky that we knew each other and are part of some of each other's college memories.

Every single day I truly think - how did I get so lucky to be with B. It's true. I can't help but be happy.

Good company

B was out of town for the past 8 days and to say I missed him would be an understatement. I think since I take care of Roxy when he's gone it makes me miss him more - she is so sweet and loving!

So he got home yesterday and went to see his his dad's great aunt and one of her kids...what would that make them to him? (great great aunt and 3rd cousin?...not quite sure!)

ANYWAY....

After they went to dinner I met up with B and his dad at our wine bar. It was great to see his dad and catch up and it was wonderful to see B again. We shared wine and cheese and chatted up with his dad. His dad left halfway through and then B and I caught up.

I didn't realize how touch is such a powerful love language. I missed his hugs, kisses and I missed how he always seems to hold my hand, put his arm around me etc. It was lovely. Impromtu date nights always are lovely.

I am a very independent and driven person and the fact that he's been gone a week and I miss him makes me feel like a phony when I tell my single gal friends that "you don't need a bf, single life is tres fab!" yes...I'm a phony...I miss the man and I want him home...stat.
  • I missed Roxy. I know she isn't "technically" MY dog...but whatever she so is and I missed her and her adorable nature. She was SO EXCITED when I walked through the door.

Top 2 Tuesday - BOOKS!

Top 2 Favorite Books...
As an English major in college this is a VERY tough one for me to narrow down but I will do my best!
1. The Giving Tree- yes the one you read when you were little. The thing is - this book has so many lessons and yet, no matter how old you get, go back and read it - it makes you want to be a better person. At least for me.
2. Wuthering Heights or Pride and Prejudice - I couldn't choose sorry. I love them both but for different reasons. :)
If anyone has any book suggestions please give me them as I love love love to read and I am always wanting to read more- and I love all kinds of literature!
